Comparison Is The Thief of Joy

Nowadays, Comparison has become so rampant especially with the existence of social media. I might be happy by myself in my one-bedroom house, while eating toast for dinner. However, when I see that girl getting “flewed out” to exotic locations and having caviar, even if I do not like fish eggs(which caviar is), or I am a homebody, I start to get jealous.

We may pray to get to a certain level but, when we get to that level, it becomes not enough -maybe because your friend may be even higher… Like when is it EVER ENOUGH? WHEN would we ever be satisfied?

You are Unique

However, we seem to forget that, God made us all to be different.

What you would find enjoyable, I wouldn’t find enjoyable; Your talents are not like mine; Your goals are not like mine.

That is why it is said- Comparison is the thief of joy. Because what would cause you to have joy in your heart, Eg. Travel, may not be the same for me a homebody, that may actually despise it.

We were all created for a specific purpose. If God wanted me to be like you, there wouldn’t be a need to create me. There’s already a YOU. Only YOU can be you and only ME can be ME. Down to our DNA, We are all vastly DIFFERENT. Even the most identical twins are different in 1000s of ways.

My Story

I used to dislike my personality because I was so quiet and shy compared to my sister who was outgoing and bubbly, so more people gravitated towards her. However despite my introversion and calmer personality, when it came to time to speak in public; like I was doing with my street evangelism, I became a whole different person- which showed the work of the Holy Spirit in me.

People are always amazed that I am doing Youtube and now blogging because, I would be the last person to do this but, God chose me for this reason. Because He knows that people would see that it is not me but Him working so He gets all the Glory, He deserves. This happened with literally all the famous Bible characters. He chose Moses who was a stammerer, Mary who was a virgin, and Paul who assisted in Christian murders, for outstanding works. And He has chosen you too. You cannot be compared with anyone.

Your life's Purpose

God made you, YOU for a reason. Your Looks, Personality, and Circumstances were all orchestrated so you can thoroughly achieve the purpose you on earth for.

That is why it breaks my heart when I see young girls trying so hard to be like celebrities. If you want to be like another person so bad, then what about YOU? Who is going to be you?

You will never be happy trying to be like someone else because you were not made to be like that. You are Special and Unique.

Do not seek your validation from man

Instead of seeking man for validation about who you are, go to the Person who made you- because He made you fearfully and wonderfully. Ever since I started trying to become the feminine woman God made me to be, People ridicule me saying I am doing too much and all- However, only God’s approval matters (Galatians 1:10). And by seeking Him for your true purpose instead of people or online quizzes, that is when you start to find and realise what TRUE HAPPINESS is (Romans 12:2).
