How to Level Up On a Budget: Fashion Edition (part 1)

My Story

I decided I had to level up in 2020 when I had all the time in the world(I am sure you would understand) to watch femininity videos. I have always been very girly with liking pink stuff and dresses but was unknowingly very masculine in behaviour and outlook because I always wanted to be in control since I thought that was the way I wouldn’t get hurt.

My fashion choices were whatever would make me comfortable because I thought I had to repair and mould my body into the “perfect” body before I thought about fashion. Why worry about fashion when this current body is definitely not “ideal”…was how I reasoned.

I was wrong. God loved me no matter shape or size and he made me unique so who cared about what others or even I thought about my body.

I started looking for fashion ideas on pinterest and youtube for my body type, which led me here.

Below are some TIPS ON HOW WE CAN LEVEL UP OUR FASHION TOGETHER. Gone are the days where we only wore clothes just to be comfortable. Why not add comfortability and stylish together?-While keeping it modest and classy of cause.

MY TOP 6 TIPS ON LEVELLING UP (on a budget)

1. Waist belts

So my body shape is more of an inverted triangle but you could also say I am a top hourglass however since I got skinny-fat due to my outrageous weight-gain journey, my body looked a bit disproportionate.

How did I combat this? Waist Belts. Waist belts, especially black ones give your waist a slimmer appearance and even if they are on the cheaper side, they wouldn’t look it.

Best places to buy for affordable yet good quality: shein, primark and aliexpress.

2. Body con No more

Whenever I wear tighter clothes like body con, I would make sure it is not too body-fitting, by buying a size bigger. So since I am usually size 8 or 10, I would buy a size 12. That way I can wear a waist belt with it and look more elegant.

Body con can sometimes look quite cheap and therefore to avoid that and look levelled up (even if it’s not the case lol) I use this tip.

3. Satin and Velvet material

Satin and velvet material are the best if you want to look levelled up but on a budget. These materials especially the ones that are a bit higher quality, make you look expensive as shown in this photo. To shop for it, “head to shop my style”

4. Matching Jewellery

Matching jewellery and accessories give you a seamless look without have to do much.

I bought this set from shein yet I told a friend it was from tiffany’ and she believed it lol… I later corrected it though.

5. Maxi Dresses

Before, I wasn’t really a fun of maxi dresses- until I wore my first one. They make you feel feminine and elegant, and you dont even have to try or fake it. I always feel like a princess when wearing them.

Best places to buy- shein, aliexpress

6. Off- shoulder and One shoulder Outfits

Like I said beforehand, my body type is an inverted triangle. Due to this I wear a lot of Off- shoulder and One shoulder tops and dresses, because of the “off-balance effect” they create. They make your shoulders appear smaller and gives off the idea that, your shoulders are only wide due to the style.

BONUS TIP

Synthetic lace fronts

I have always been quite bad with wigs even the human hair ones. They always lasted max 3 months. Then I discovered synthetic lace fronts. The lace front gives it a “natural looking” hairline and when you buy from places like Amazon or aliexpress, you could get synthetic wigs that look VERY MUCH like human hair, at a price over 3 X less!

What a  bargain!
